Professional experience
Mr. Thompson joined Coughlin & Gerhart, L.L.P. in 1975 and is a Partner in the firm. He is a member of the firm's Real Estate, Trusts & Estates, and Business & Banking Practice Groups. His practice experience has extended into all areas of real estate, together with the creation and representation of business entities. Mr. Thompson also assists clients regularly in the areas of estate planning and administration.

Other
Mr. Thompson has been, and continues to be, an involved member of the Broome County Bar Association (BCBA), Tioga County Bar Association (TCBA), New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) and American Bar Association (ABA). He is a past President of the Broome County Bar Association and a long-time member of the Broome County Bar Association’s Real Property Committee. Mr. Thompson is also a former Delegate to the New York State Bar Association’s House of Delegates, a former representative of the 6th Judicial District on the Executive Committee of the Real Property Section of the NYSBA, and a past Chairperson of the New York State Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section.

Mr. Thompson is a devoted supporter of the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton, having served as its President, and continuing to serve on its Board of Directors. He also serves as Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton Foundation. He is also currently serving on the Board of Directors of both the Binghamton University Athletic Fund and the West Side Youth Association, Inc., as well as the Troop Committee of Boy Scout Troop 110 in Johnson City, N.Y.
